Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has been shown to have excellent results for people suffering from depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, panic attacks and phobias.  CBT explores the links between thoughts feelings and behaviours with the idea that it is our "faulty’ thinking that is causing the distress. The aim of CBT is to help people develop more adaptive thinking styles.   It is a time limited approach that is very helpful in bringing about real change.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
EMDR is an acronym for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.  EMDR is a extensively researched, evidence based psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are a result of disturbing life experiences.  Research shows that by using EMDR therapy, people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It was assumed that emotional pain required a long time to heal. EMDR therapy show that the mind can heal from psychological trauma just as the body can recover from physical trauma.
EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, emotional distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated and internal agitation and anxiety is reduced
